TMI?

Image
I've recently come across some vlogs that have me wondering if it's possible to share too much information with your viewers (or readers). I don't want to get into any specifics because I'm not going to point fingers, but here is my concern: When your RVing story involves someone else in an unflattering way, is it fair or kind to publicly identify them if they don't have a platform of their own where they can respond? I'm not advocating that people not share their honest experiences. I love that transparency, but I think there's a better way than publicly putting a name and face to everyone we encounter. The vlogger (or blogger) has a choice...other people don't. What do you think? Paula

Dutchmen Kodiak Ultra-Lite 261RBSL

Image
The third trailer we looked at during our visit to Poulsbo RV was the Kodiak 261RBSL. This trailer is 31'0" long and has a dry weight of 5,700 pounds. Kitchen The kitchen is in the corner, against the wall that separates the bedroom from the main area of the trailer. This is a common layout, but this trailer has more counterspace than many other kitchens of this design. The counter is thermofoil wrapped. The undermounted sink was white; I'm not sure what kind of material it was made of. The pantry is directly to the right as you enter the trailer. It provides ample shelf and floor space...a perfect spot for a large bin of dog food and a broom. Because of its placement, it could also be used as a place to store shoes or for coats. Outdoor Kitchen The outdoor kitchen features a small refrigerator and a two-burner cook top, but no sink. Living/Dining The unit we toured had a booth dinette and theater seating. "Theater seating" sounds great, but this ...

Crossroads RV Sunset Trail 260SI

Image
The second trailer we looked at during our visit to Poulsbo RV was the Sunset Trail 260SI. This trailer is 31'1" long and has a dry weight of 5,986 pounds. Kitchen This trailer has opposing slides which allows for an island kitchen. There is a ton of counter space. One thing we have seen, even in fifth wheels, is only a couple of inches of counter space on either side of the range, even though there is good space on the island and usually on an end wall as well. The 26SI has good counter space next to the range, enough for a coffeemaker and/or a holder for cooking utensils. There is ample kitchen storage with cabinets and two drawers in the island as well as a full pantry with enough floor space for a broom or vacuum and a large bin of dog food. There are more drawers under the counter next to the range. I think the island kitchen is a bit of a mixed blessing. I love the extra storage and counter space, but I feel like you're losing some floor space. I...

Meatloaf on the Traeger

Image
I'm not a food blogger so you'll have to overlook the fact that I don't have a heartwarming story about my meatloaf recipe. Insted you're going to get fascinating details on our grill setup and a recipe for meatloaf. We got our Traeger back in May at a Costco event and we've been using fairly often since then. The only reason we don't use it every night is because it doesn't have a permanent home on our deck with convenient access to an electrical outlet. Instead, we keep the grill in our detached garage which, unfortunately, doesn't have power. So when we want to use the grill, we have to "roll" it outside over gravel and grass to a level spot. Then to power it, we use either a Jupiter (Harbor Freight) 2,000 watt inverter hooked up to a car battery or we hook it directly to a Predator (Harbor Freight again FTW) 2,000 watt inverter generator. The most inconvenient part of that arrangement is getting the grill out onto the grass...the wh...

Forest River Wildcat Maxx 26FBS

Image
We recently visited Poulsbo RV 's location in Everett, Washington, and looked at three rear-bath model travel trailers. First up for review is the Wildcat Maxx 26FBS. The Wildcat has an overall length of 29'11" and a dry weight of 6,837 pounds. Kitchen There is decent, but not abundant, counter space. The counters are solid surface and there is a single basin, undermounted stainless steel sink. There is a covered countertop cut out for a trash can. We saw this previously in Lance trailers, but the trash cans were tiny. The Maxx takes it a step further with a full-size kitchen trash can that can be accessed from outside the trailer when it's time to empty it. The three-burner gas range includes a 22" oven, which is huge compared to the 17" oven so many manufacturers are installing. The biggest con in the kitchen is the lack of pantry space and no logical space to store the large bin we'll use for dog food. Yes, we can store it in the bed of the truc...

Hello!

Join us on our quest for the perfect travel trailer to tow behind our 2002 F350 Super Duty and as we start enjoying RV life. We're Chuck and Paula. We'll be trying to balance keeping our total length under 50 feet while still having enough room in the trailer to move around without tripping over Shasta and Thor, our spoiled German Shepherds. Two humans and two dogs = Four to Go.
